Sundews (Drosera)
Often considered the most gruesome of all carnivorous plants, sundews are one of the most diverse genus of carnivores with over a hundred species found on almost every continent of earth. Their leaves are lined with hundreds of fine tentacles that produce a tiny droplet of sticky dew. Unsuspecting insects mistaking this dew for sweet nectar, land and immediately panic, struggling to free themselves from these sticky droplets. Adding to this, sundews will slowly move and curl their leaves bringing caught insects into contact with even more dew and ultimately immobilizing them.
